No matter what your level of interest is in the Mahabharata, you will love these. No-brainer! You also get a Money Back Guarantee, so there really is no excuse to not try them.

I am amazed at how much material is available to read in this bundle. I still haven't read it all, but I am sampling from the different parts: one book from the Essentials, one from the Character Guides Bundle and so on. The Mahabharata Reader books are also wonderful. Enjoying the original Sanskrit verses. What I love the most about this bundle is that it has something in it for everyone!

Moinuddin Khaja

Every once in a while, you come across an author who is less popular than he deserves to be. While other, louder writers get all the acclaim, people like these write beautiful books that are little-known. This bundle of Mahabharata character guides is a collection that you will enjoy just for the pure intellectual and empathic exercise of putting yourself in the shoes of Draupadi, Arjuna et al. I'm definitely buying more of what Sharath has to offer. Also feels great to be buying direct from him without feeding a middleman. May the arts flourish in this country!

I am what you could call a beginner to the Mahabharata. I've not even read the Amar Chitra Katha version of it. So I emailed Sharath and asked if this bundle would be suitable for me. He said, 'Try it, if it doesn't work for you, I will refund your money.' So I took the plunge, and I'm happy to report that I was able to get into the books very easily. Now I find myself wanting to explore the Mahabharata more deeply. I had no idea there was so much in there that I didn't know about!

Lakshmy N

What I found most interesting in the bundle was how the relationship between the characters are also explored: Bhima-Duryodhana, Karna-Arjuna, Krishna-Draupadi my favourite among this was the usually ignored Kunti-Gandhari dynamic. Read the two guides together and you will know what I mean. The writing style is clear, yet full of immersion. It feels like the author has brought all of his fiction-writing skills into this work. Well worth a try!

C
Chetan Kumar

Some of the guides are great - Karna, Krishna, Arjuna, Draupadi - and some are so-so: like Abhimanyu and Yudhishthir. The ones on Bhima and Duryodhana seemed just like afterthoughts. But overall you get 14 books for a low price so you cannot complain.

L
Lavanya P

IMHO, the book on Draupadi alone is worth the price of the whole bundle. I've read Palace of Illusions and thought I was a bit of a Draupadi expert, but the amount of nuance that Sharath's guide brings to Draupadi is simply unbelievable. Sympathy, empathy, logic and imagination - they all mix together so beautifully.

V
Vikash

The Krishna and Karna guides were just out of the world. I thought I knew everything about these two characters, but the depth and breadth Sharath provides in these books is simply amazing. I came away with new insights into all the characters. I wish there was something like this for the Ramayana too!

N
Navya Brar

I've read some of the author's other work (The Hastinapur Series) so I was not completely new to his work. But his nonfiction style is very comforting and easygoing: much like a friend who is also reading the Mahabharata with you. I also enjoyed the flexibility that this bundle provides: with 14 books, I wanted to print some of them off for on-paper reading, and the PDF files helped so much with that. Thank you!

Usually we read the Mahabharata from the point of view of a narrator - Vyasa. In this bundle, you get to see the characters from their own inner lives. The author stays true to the original, and whenever he gives an opinion, he clearly states it as so. I really enjoyed the thought experiments - they deepend my knowledge of the epic. One star off for the Q and A format, which I felt becomes repetitive sometimes.

D
Dr Anup Chaturvedi

I had not heard of the author before, so I was a bit apprehensive. Since the topic is so interesting and since there was a money back guarantee, I thought why not. I am simply amazed by the value this bundle offers. You get access to pretty much all the characters of the Mahabharata. Full guides - albeit in a question-and-answer format. My favourite 'character' in this bundle is Kurukshetra. I'm glad the author gave the battlefield itself a full character guide. Worth reading and re-reading many times.

V
Vaani

I believe the Mahabharata is something every Indian should read at least once in his life. If you're able to read the original, then well and good. But for the vast majority of us that cannot for whatever reason, these are the best alternatives. Try them, and if you don't like them, use the money back guarantee that the author offers. Enjoy!

Books and language are suitable for reading at all levels. Of course, some details in the story will need to be explained to very young readers. I've been reading this and discussing it with my daughter every evening. It has quickly become a connectg ritual for us. Take a chance on these - you won't be disappointed.

S
Siddhartha N

I had some trouble understanding how to download the book files into my apps, and Sharath was gracious and helpful in telling me how it all worked. I was up and running in no time. Thanks Sharath!

A
Anirudh Pathak

You will learn everything about the Mahabharata - and I mean everything. Nothing is missed. I consider myself a bit of a Mahabharata veteran, but even I was surprised at some of the details. Fabulous set of books.

Lekha Subramanian

I've always been a paper reader. I've not got into eBooks. What intrigued me about these books is that a printable PDF is included. At first I thought it was a headache to go and get it printed at the local printer, but once I tried it, I'm now a convert. The formatting is lovely, the design is just right, and what's more: I know I have the file with me in case I lose my copy. I also have the flexibility of reading these books on a screen if I want. Beautiful attention to detail.

I
Isha T R

More than anything, I like the flexibility with the different formats. Nowadays we all have different devices, and it's nice to have books that are compatible with all of them. Haven't tried the printable option yet, but nice of the author to allow us readers to print out his books if they want. Haven't seen this from any other author.

A
Avani K Reddy

I'd read some of Sharath's fiction before but have stayed clear of his nonfiction books. When I saw this bundle offer, I thought why not. I've been thinking of getting into the Mahabharata in a deeper sense than just Amar Chitra Katha comics so I gave this a try. So glad I did! I read a bit of it every night before bed, and it feels like the most comprehensive, complete course that you can take at your own pace. Different to the fiction of course, as it should be. Go for it, you won't be disappointed.

R
Raunak Lahoria

58 books and 18 printable posters for this price is just a ridiculously low price. I remember spending twice this amount for book sets in this space that I've ended up not reading. If you've always wanted to have an in-depth knowledge of the Mahabharata and somehow never took the first steps, this will help! And if it doesn't, you know you have the risk-free guarantee. Go for it.

S
Smita Kulbhushan

I've always wanted to read the Mahabharata but thought I need to know Sanskrit to do it properly. But these books gave me 90% of the knowledge in less than 10% of the time I thought I needed. I can safely say I would NOT have learned the things I learned here anywhere else. Happy to have given this a go. Life-changing.

S
Shubham M

At first I thought this would be just another gimmick by yet another Indian author who thinks he knows everything about our epics. But I thought there is a money back guarantee, let me give him a chance. You know what? I am blown away! Just the sheer volume of reading and thinking and analysis that these books contain... even if you take away 1% of what is here, you will feel wiser and more knowledgeable. I've read all the Mahabharata books from the other usual suspects, but this one is just the best. Easy reading, different angles of approach, and the writer never talks down to you. Perfect!

A
Astha Goyal

I am running out of space to store my books, but I still enjoy reading words on paper. I like the flexibility that these books offer me. I can read them on any device, any app, and if I feel like printing out a book or two, I can. I also like the thought of supporting an author directly by purchasing his work from HIM. Will definitely be buying more of Sharath's books.

M
Meghana M

I'm usually not that impressed by Mahabharata retellings, analysis etc, but these are different. Where other books are tiresome and try to impress you with their research and knowledge, here the author takes on the role of a reader, and his enthusiasm is infectious. I've just begun reading the Essentials books, but can easily see myself finishing the whole thing. Commendable!

R
Rahul P J

I find it sad that books of this calibre are not famous and the trash gets top billing in our country. The depth and breadth of this work is simply unfathomable. The work of a lifetime I would say. A treasure trove of information, analysis and imagination too.

S
Samyukta Das

Look, I've read all the books on the market in this space. And these are the best. You get all possible angles on the Mahabharata - the scholarly angle, the opinions, the points of the view, the retellings, the short stories - everything and if you don't like it, which other author is giving you a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee? (I've had a refund with one of Sharath's other books, and it's absolutely no hassles.) You owe it to yourself to try it. I'm confident you will be impressed.

M
Mili Prabhu

I thought I would not like the process of printing my own books off a PDF document, but the books in this set are so beautifully formatted for print. I got some of the shorter books on the set printed for myself, and couldn't be happier. Now I can read these books anywhere I want. More flexibility = good! The material itself is top-notch, right up there with the best books in the business. But more accessible - it feels like the author is right there by your side, reading the Mahabharata with you, and talking to you about it. Love the personal approach.

K
Kalyan K

I thought long and hard about getting these books: it's an author I haven't read before. It's a topic that has been written about ad nauseum before. I've been disappointed by most of the writers in the space. But the promise of flexibility of apps and devices, and the promise of the money back guarantee, persuaded me. I took the leap - and am I glad I took it! Always so exciting to find a new author whose work you love. The writing is just so thoughtful and nuanced, with no judgement. Even when Sharath is offering you an opinion, he does so kindly and respectfully. Very much feels like sitting down with a friend and having a conversation. So don't think too hard about this - just get it, try it out, and see for yourself. Enjoy!

M
Meenakshi Mehta

The one thing I missed having in this bundle is an analysis of more women characters - like Ganga and Bhanumati and so on. Out of the 14 characters, only three are women: Draupadi, Kunti and Gandhari. I understand the Mahabharata is a man's story, but I would have appreciated more women's perspectives.

Z
Zainab

While reading these books, I sometimes wished I lived at the time of the Mahabharata. Interact with all these characters and get their stories. But I'm glad we have the next best thing.
