Class of One: Personal Mentorship for Writers

Writing a book is hard. But it doesn't have to be impossible.

So you want to write a book.

In theory, there's nothing to it. You sit down, you write the first word. Then you write the next. And then the next.

You keep this up for 60,000 words, and you have a book! What's the fuss?

In practice however, things get a bit more complicated.

Four things primarily get in the way:

First, the craft: you don't know if the words you're writing down are any good. Do they add up to something whole? Do your chapters flow from one to the next? Are your characters consistent? Is your plot coherent? Does the story say things you set out to say? All in all, is the book interesting?

Second, time and space: Writing (and the thinking that drives it) takes time. It requires a quiet space. How do you find 30-45 minutes in your already busy day? How do you stick to it for long enough to finish the book? Habits are notoriously hard to build, which is why many people begin their books, write a chapter or two, and never get back.

Third, the business: You keep dwelling on the question: what next? Do you seek publication, or do you self-publish? Do you publish your book at all, or keep it hidden in a trunk? If the latter, why even write? How do you market your work once it's done? How do you find readers? All of these questions interfere with the writing process.

Fourth, the mental game: These are all questions and arguments your mind will mount to stop you from writing. Eventually, they all boil down to: what is the point?

For example: I am never going to finish this book. Why bother with writing this chapter?

Nobody but me is ever going to read this book. Why should I write it?

I thought writing would be easy. It is not. Can I give up now?

And so on.

Before you know it, you're writing is blocked. Your project stalls. And the longer it stalls, the harder it is to get going again.

What I am Offering: A Personal Mentorship

With Class of One, you get personal, private guidance and help from me on every writing-related problem that you've ever faced.

A craft issue? I can help.

A business issue? I can help.

A time and space issue? I can help.

A mental model issue? I can help.

I've been writing books full-time since 2013. I've so far written and published 47 books. I've worked with big-name publishers like HarperCollins, with Kindle Direct Publishing, and now I sell my work direct to readers via my own ecommerce store.

I've sold upwards of 100,000 copies of my work over the years.

I know how craft works. I know how the business of publishing works. I know how marketing works.

More than anything else, I know how to 'unblock' a creative block.

I do it routinely with myself. I can do it with you.

Who am I?

My name is Sharath Komarraju. I'm a writer of fiction and nonfiction who has been a full-time writer since 2013. My full body of work is available for browsing and purchase at sharathkomarraju.com.

Do I have the credentials to help you? I've been in this game for 13+ years. I'm an active writer; I'm working on a book right now. I'm also an active publisher and marketer, always finding new audiences for my work.

The answer is yes. I have plenty of help, guidance and wisdom to offer a writer just starting out.

The only question is: do you want it?

What this is not

I want to leave you with no illusions, so let me tell you what this program is not.

It is not a classroom or cohort setting. In groups, the advice gets filtered down to trite aphorisms ('Write what you know', 'Edit with your door open'). What helps one person in a class often hinders another.

It is not a ghostwriting program - meaning I will not write your book for you. I will help you with your blocks, and I will answer all your questions. But the work of writing will have to be done by you.

It is not a critique program. While I will scan your work occasionally and point out little things, I will not critique it. Critiquing is nothing more than the critic's opinion, and in writing your book, the only person whose opinion matters is yours.

How it works

1 - The first step in the mentorship program is a no-obligation chemistry call. Ask me all your questions and determine for yourself if the program is worth it. At the end of the call, take your time and decide yes or no.

2 - Once you decide you'd like to go ahead, you will pay once a month for my services.

3 - Typically, a first book takes somewhere between 9-12 months to write. But you pay for as many months as you need. That is: if you finish your novel in 4 months, you only pay for 4 months. If you finish in 6 months, you pay for 6. Etc.

4 - You have full freedom to pause, cancel or resume whenever you wish. There are no contracts or binding agreements. After Month 2, if you want to pause for a month or two (or indefinitely), you can. You can resume anytime. You can also permanently stop / cancel anytime.

5 - A note on refunds in case of cancellation: You get a no-questions-asked, full refund guarantee on your latest payment. For example: if you cancel in Month 5, you will get a refund on the payment you made for Month 5.

6 - Format of help: I'm available on email, instant messaging, audio call and video call. You can choose whichever is best for the kind of guidance you need that day.

7 - After you finish your book, I will help you with choosing the best publishing path, how to evaluate your options, and how to ensure your work reaches its audience.

In short, nothing is off limits. Save for writing your book for you, I will do everything in my power to help.

Price

The current price of the mentorship program is 10,000 INR.

This is not a subscription. This is a one-time payment for one month of mentorship services.

After every month, you can decide whether or not to continue in the program.

If you feel you've received enough value from me and you can complete the rest of the journey on your own, stop.

If you feel you can benefit from more help, continue. The choice is always in your hands.

You also get a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee on your latest payment, so you can start the program at no risk. After the first 30 days, if you decide it's been no good, just tell me and I will give you your refund. No questions asked.

A Perspective on the Price

In 2026, a group workshop led by a published writer that lasts a day is generally priced at 5,000 INR.

Consider what you get for that price:

- You are one of 12-15 people in the room.

- The syllabus and agenda are pre-set. There is zero customization.

- If you're lucky, you get the opportunity to ask two or three questions.

- Most of your learning happens from classroom dynamics, not from the writer running the workshop.

Now, there's nothing wrong with that. There are scenarios where classroom learning is essential.

But for just twice the price of a day-long group workshop, what if you get private, personalized access to a career writer who has written multiple bestselling novels, and who makes a living selling his books to readers?

Syllabus and agenda? Personalized to you.

Questions? Ask them all whenever they occur, and ask follow up questions as and when they crop up.

Travel and socialization? Zero. You only interact with me. We only work on your project. No other person matters.

Likelihood of finishing your book? Extremely high.
