So the guys at Harper Collins assure me that the book is going to come out by October end. Officially this is my first foray out of murder mysteries into fantasy fiction. The book tells the story of the Mahabharata from the points of view of all the prominent women characters. If you’re thinking ‘Ah, interesting!’ let me hasten to add that this is by no means an original concept. Marion Zimmer Bradley wrote the Avalon series where she centered the Arthur legend around the women. I thought it would be interesting to do the same with the Mahabharata.
Closer to home, there have been many attempts by Indian writers to re-tell the epic from the point of view of a single woman character. Books like ‘Palace of Illusions’ and ‘Yajnaseni’ come to mind. But as far as I know, this is the first time that an ensemble all-woman cast has been assembled to tell the tale of the Great War.
So, end of October. More details will follow from me as the release date approaches. Some freebies too, on the offing, so please keep a tab on this page.
Am quite late in knowing about this book. My recent love is to read versions of Mahabharata 🙂 and yours sounds interesting. Let me try and read it when I get the opportunity.
